Oh, god, there is so much to tell. Today buried on p. 24 of the NYT is a story about how the EPA is killing its scientific research arm, firing chemists, toxicologists, and other scientists, because industry clearly doesn't want you to know that their products might kill your children. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/18/climate/epa-firings-scientific-research.html
Is there any way back? Is this the abyss and there is no rope or ladder? I am sickened by the "now" and the tomorrow in which our children and Grands will live.
A multi-party system would help, so that the leading parties would need to form a coalition. It would tend to move things back to the middle, though my vote would go to a progressive/left party. Marching in the streets also helps, though I am no longer sure how much. "No Kings" brought out 5 million people but don't think it made a ripple. Our marches have so far maybe been too civilized and enjoyable. I think we need to be louder and angrier, and to congregate en masse in Washington, DC. I understand the reluctance given TACO's willingness to roll out the military and let them have target practice with rubber bullets on journalists reporting the news. I also despair for the future of our children and grands.
Right, not just a third party, a coalition would be the only way. While I would also favor a progressive left at this point I would just welcome sanity. And big, energized marches, I fear would be met with so.ething less like Kent State and more like Tien an men square.
It's a nice idea but I don't see it. There are certainly free speech obstacles in this country to the idea of people taking politicians to court to debate the factual basis for every statement.
Yup, it’s a fair point. The legislation’s very tightly restricted to facts - not opinions or statements or predictions. Just evidence-based facts. This goes into it a little more…
Tell it, Richard!

Yeah using the fear of violence (and the reality in LA, Charlottesville, etc) is another way President TACO violates our right to free speech.
For an ignorant and nearly illiterate being he learned well from Roy Cohn.
There is some light. One of the answers out there is gaining support in US.
In the UK, Wales is legislating for voters right to facts from politicians…
